Spine Deformity Correction

Ms. M 13 year old girl from Mauritius came to us with scoliosis (sideways bending of spine) which was noticed at the age of 12 years. The deformity kept progressing fast in 1 year. She was concerned about her body image and had a limited work/play capacity due to the deformity affecting her right lung. She underwent “Posterior Scoliosis Correction and Fusion” by Dr. Naveen Tahasildar – Spine Surgeon at Sparsh Hospitals, Bommasandra in December 2014. She underwent post-op rehabilitation and could walk comfortably on day 4 after surgery. The Xrays showed a satisfactory correction. She went back to Mauritius after 3 weeks of surgery and was under regular follow-up by teleconsultation. SACIM, a non-profit organisation of Mauritius, was instrumental in helping this child undergo surgery. Ms. M is a go getter and has been enjoying her life thoroughly.
